Nearly 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the region, bringing wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Residents observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams working to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand households in Victoria also faced energy failures after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received 598 calls for help across the area, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both regions.
Health Warning
Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
