The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for Mammon in this director's brilliantly over-the-top biopic of the disgraced religious broadcaster plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor acts as the venal Jim, who states early on, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple commence monetising the American public's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, yet Chastain manages to present Tammy Faye as a sympathetic figure. October 14th, late night, on Film4
