Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
