In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Uncovered

According to the official release, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an special katana in addition to several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Content

This release also adds the game's newest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
